Ross and Kara

Dragon Metalwork is a two-person operation based in Parks, Arizona, located in the high country west of Flagstaff. I'm Ross, a certified structural welder and fabricator, and my title is Chief Fabrication Officer. My partner in life and business, Kara, is the organized and creative force behind everything that isn't welding. She built our brand, designed the logos, chose the colors, and ensures our back-end operations run smoothly. While she doesn’t weld, I consult with her constantly.

We work well together and always have.

The Work

As a certified structural welder with a wealth of experience across various materials and processes, I take great pride in delivering quality welding repair services. Before launching Dragon Metalwork, I served as a lead troubleshooter for wind and solar energy projects, working both across the country and internationally. I evaluated failures in remote locations, identified the underlying issues, and implemented solutions under real pressure. That hands-on experience informs my approach to every welding repair today, whether it's fixing a cracked trailer frame on I-40 or addressing a failed bracket on a piece of farm equipment.

I strive to understand the root cause of a problem before selecting the best way to fix it. This problem-solving mindset is evident in my techniques...gouging out cracks before welding, preheating materials when required, and incorporating well-designed reinforcements to ensure that repairs last longer than the original. While this may extend the project timeline slightly, I believe the quality is worth the extra effort.

How We Do Business

Kara and I previously built a food products business that expanded to over 26,000 retail locations. This experience imparted valuable lessons about effective business practices and helped to shape the goals for Dragon Metalwork.

We've learned that relationships are more important than mere transactions. Honesty and transparency foster deeper loyalty than any marketing strategy, and treating customers as intelligent individuals...rather than leads to capture and convert...is both ethical and advantageous for business.

Where We Are and What We Do

Dragon Metalwork is located in Parks, Arizona, serving Northern Arizona, including Flagstaff, Williams, Prescott and Prescott Valley, Sedona, and the I-40 and US-89 corridors. I offer both shop work and mobile welding services, including roadside emergency callouts.  If you're wondering whether you're in my service area, I cover the I-40 corridor from Seligman to Holbrook, along with US-89 and the greater Grand Canyon region. Our work covers four primary areas: trailer and RV repair, heavy equipment and farm and ranch fabrication, signs and plasma cutting, along with decorative and artistic metalwork. Some projects are straightforward repairs, while others blossom from a sketch on a napkin. I appreciate both sides of this work.
